Fritz Olsen
Fritz Olsen is the recipient of numerous honors and commissions. Among his public works is "Cactus Flower", an eleven-foot carved marble sculpture standing prominently at the front entrance of the Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, California. Fritz Olsen has designed and executed the Decade of the Brain award for the Chicago Neurosurgical Center since 1990. His sculptures are sought both for private and corporate collections and are represented in select galleries throughout the United States.

Olsen says, "The sunflower holds a significant place in history, art and in the symbolism of many cultures throughout the world. My 'Sunflower' is carved of Vermont white marble --- symbolizes hope, life and longevity."

2006 addendum:

The Winners Circle is a special space in the Mize Rose Garden. The competition for this
location is only open to artists who have participated in previous Art ‘Round Town exhibits.

The sculpture remains on display for 2 years. Mr. Olsen is the second artist to win this
competition. Sunflower will be on display until March of 2007.

Hitachi Corporation utilizes “Troubled Clef”, a grey swirling marble ribbon for brochures
representing state of the art medical imaging technology.

Fritz Olsen was chosen by the Chicago Neurosurgical center to design and create The Decade of the Brain award since 1990. “Ripples”, a study in fluid motion graces the Ferris State University campus at the entrance to its Elastomer Center. Lakeland Hospital’s outpatient Michigan facility is enhanced by Olsen’s signature “Lake Michigan Bench” and his compelling “Phoenix”. The Krasl Museum has added “Bouquet” to their prestigious permanent museum sculpture collection.

Sunflowers represent themes of hope, love and family.
