Brian Alexander Material energy, its infinite patterns and surrounding fields have provided the foundation for my work for the last 21 years. Regardless of scale or scope, they all begin with a tiny fractional moment. Usually the exact point at which something appears, disappears, or when a pattern is realized and comes into being. This moment is then built upon and refined to clarify the event. These events are occurring all the time to everything in the world including ourselves. Even as you read this, patterns are wired and rewired in your mind which make sense of this statement. This moment of connection - transfer - creation is purely universal and not something we are doing per Se, but more something that is always happening. In this context I am only an observer and editor who seeks to make these moments visible. |

I believe in the public realm
that most of our experiences become detuned and numbed. Many factors including our own 'survival instinct" cloud our ability to see what is truly happening in the world around us. In the public setting, we are all part of a beautiful mass of energy, ideas, and spirit in motion. Thousands upon thousands of details, all similar yet different, come together to form patterns upon patterns of a larger whole. Public Art at its best, has the ability to reawaken us to what is often overlooked, to what is rarely seen as a whole, and to our connection to everything around us. |
